The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) on 5th May, 2026 hosted the Chief Executive Officer of AstriaLearning, Dr. Jeff Bordes, and his delegation for a working visit focused on collaboration and the exchange of ideas in key areas of higher education development.
The engagement brought together senior management of the Commission led by the Director-General, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, and the AstriaLearning team to explore opportunities for strengthening Ghana’s tertiary education system, particularly in the areas of university rankings, streamlined admissions processes, and credential evaluation.
Discussions centered on how AstriaLearning’s global experience and technological solutions could support GTEC’s ongoing efforts to enhance quality assurance and institutional competitiveness. In the area of rankings, both parties shared perspectives on developing a credible and context-specific framework that reflects Ghana’s higher education landscape while aligning with international standards. The exchange highlighted the importance of both institutional and programme-level rankings in promoting transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
On admissions, AstriaLearning presented insights into integrated digital platforms that simplify application processes. The discussions focused on how such systems could inform GTEC’s aspirations to develop a more efficient, accessible, and student-friendly single application process for tertiary institutions in Ghana.
The meeting also explored credential evaluation, with particular attention to AstriaLearning’s Global Verification Network (GVN). The platform’s approach to authentication and cross-border recognition of academic qualifications provided useful insights into strengthening Ghana’s systems for verification and safeguarding the integrity of academic credentials.
Overall, the visit provided an opportunity for mutual learning and the sharing of best practices. GTEC acknowledged the relevance of AstriaLearning’s experience and expressed interest in further technical engagements to assess how these ideas can be adapted to support national priorities.
As a follow-up, AstriaLearning is expected to submit a detailed proposal outlining areas of potential collaboration, which will be reviewed by the Commission for possible implementation in line with its strategic objectives.
