The Director-General
and Management of Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) on Tuesday May 16,
2023 received a delegation from the Botswana Defence Force Command and Staff
College Control Board.
The team consisted of the Board Chairman of the Botswana Staff College, Brig. Gen. Anderson Mathlo, the Dean of the Botswana Staff College, Prof. Rebecca Lekoko, the Head of Politics at the University of Botswana, Dr. Kebapetse Lotshwao and Commandant of the Botswana Staff College, Col. Segolome Sebenyane. They were accompanied by the Vice Dean of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Dr. Napoleon Kurantin and some key officers of GAFCSC.
The
leader of the delegation from Botswana, Brig. Gen. Anderson Mathlo said the
team was on a visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College
(GAFCSC) to explore collaboration modules, joint accreditation of learning
programmes, award of certificates, quality assurance structures, college
structures and oversight bodies.
Brig. Gen. Mathlo also
said the Botswana Defence Force Command and Staff College intends to offer
quality and internationally competitive programmes to their officers and
thought it necessary to meet with Management and leadership of GTEC to explore existing
policies and their development, strategic plans and management of resources
including budget, course calender and student support service.
The Director-General of
GTEC Prof. Mohammed Salifu on his part took the team through the process of accrediting
academic and professional programmes at GTEC as well as some Quality Assurance
Mechanisms in the tertiary education sector. Prof. Salifu also assured the team
of any form of collaboration in the future.
